| Duininck Brothers Golf to Construct Huntsville Course November 8, 2001 Prinsburg, Mn -- Duininck Brothers Golf has been selected by the City of Huntsville, Texas to build the new Raven Nest Municipal Golf Course after an exhaustive nationwide selection process. Duininck Brothers Golf was selected to build the par-71, 7,100 yard layout through competitive bidding that resulted in the City receiving 10 bids from contractors that were required to have built at least 72 holes of golf in the past three years. Raven Nest marks Duininck’s first project with course architect Tripp Davis and Associates. Slated to open in October 2002, Raven Nest is situated on 154 acres of land leased from Sam Houston State University and 20 acres of privately owned land. The course’s name was selected through a community wide contest and is derived from Sam Houston’s Cherokee Indian name Co-lo-neh –The Raven. Befitting the course’s name, the site is characterized by rolling terrain, mature vegetation, open spaces and Robinson Creek, which comes into play on seven holes. Unlike many similar projects, the course will not have a housing component but, the City of Huntsville is looking at plans to develop a hotel and conference center on land adjacent to the course. "Duininck Brothers Golf will perform all earthwork, drainage, shaping, irrigation, and grassing with in-house resources,” said Duininck Brothers General Manager Dave Munkvold. “We’ll move approximately 175,000 cubic yards of earth in eight weeks and then transition into drainage and feature shaping. We’ll bring in people and equipment from our Dallas office and hit this project pretty hard.” Founded in 1926, Prinsburg, Minnesota based Duininck Brothers Golf has been constructing golf courses nationwide since the early 1980’s and has a bonding capacity of more than one hundred million dollars. A charter member of the Golf Course Builders Association of America, Duininck Brothers Golf has the resources to facilitate turnkey project development, financing, construction management, and operations. |
