| Oak Ridge Bunker Renovation Complete August 7, 2001 HOPKINS, MN - A course wide bunker renovation project at the prominent Oak Ridge Country Club is complete. Following a master plan prepared by Kansas City based Craig Schreiner Golf Course Architects, 57 sand bunkers have been completely renovated, fairways have been contoured and numerous drainage problems resolved at this exclusive club west of Minneapolis. “Maturing vegetation and advances in equipment affected the strategy and playability of numerous bunkers,” said Todd Clark, Schreiner’s senior architect. “Our primary goal was to strengthen the playability and strategic shot making characteristics while enhancing the maintainability of the golf course. The new bunkers add a dimension to playing the course that I think the members will enjoy. Our intent was to update the bunkers and not leave a mark on this course and I think that was accomplished.” “Our membership had very high expectations and we couldn’t be more pleased with the way this project has turned out,” said Keith Scott, CGCS, Golf Course Superintendent. Duininck Brothers Inc. of Prinsburg, MN completed the project in two phases with minimal disruption to play. Craig Schreiner Golf Course Architects has worked with over 75 courses nationwide on projects that include green reconstruction, bunker restoration, new tee construction, fairway contouring, stream renovation, re-grassing greens, drainage, tree placement/removal, entry landscaping and short game improvements. Schreiner Golf Architects has offices in Kansas City, KS and Wauconda, IL. |
