Interlachen Country Club’s history dates back to 1909 when Willie Watson layed out the first design. In 1919 was redesigned by Donald Ross, another historic golf course architect. This private country club located in Edina, Minnesota has hosted several national golf tournaments, including the 1930 US Open (won by Bobby Jones), 1993 Walker Cup, 2002 Solheim Cup, and in 2008 will host the US Women’s Open. Golf Digest continuously has Interlachen Country Club ranked in the top 100 greatest courses.
With a need to improve the driving range for both the members and in preparation for the Women’s US Open, Interlachen Country Club underwent a major driving range reconstruction and expansion project. The driving range was built with three separate teeing spaces totaling nearly 60,000SF. A unique Gill Design, the perched “fairway” landing area with targets make the driving range an amenity the club will take pride in for years to come.
